LA Bridges
The L.A. Bridges Program is designed as a model of gang prevention and early intervention and is a partnership between L.A. City and the LAUSD. It is aimed at 10 to 14 year-old at-risk middle school youngsters. The program works simultaneously with the individual, family, school and community. It recognizes different levels of risk for youth involvement with gangs. For youth at mild to moderate risk (non-core youth), less intense group interventions are required. For those youth at a higher risk (core youth), case management, including individual and family counseling, is additionally prescribed to provide positive support and structure. Although the L.A. Bridges program requires certain services for targeted youth, the City is sensitive to individual community contexts and offers a neighborhood empowerment model that maximizes use of existing resources and provides the individual community needs related to gang prevention and intervention. If you would like more information please contact the LA Bridges’ office.
