Our 6th and 7th graders will be supporting the Road to 800 campaign by trying their best on the English and Math portions of the exam. Out 8th grade class of 2012 carries the greatest responsibility, as they must take exams in the areas of English, Math, History and Science. It is also their challenge to continue the growing trend for Berendo and to surpass the scores of their predecessors, the class of 2011. Our students are ready! They have been preparing all year and the CST’s are an opportunity for us as a school community to show off our academic skills. The CST’s have the greatest impact on a school’s API and the results are also used to determine class programming for your child. Additionally, the scores of a school are often used in real estate valuing. The higher the API score, the greater the property value of the neighborhood. I have often stated Berendo is the community school and we will all share in this effort together!
Many of you have been asking and I can now inform you that you are able to make your summer plans. The district will be closing all schools four days early and the last day of attendance for our students will be Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Our graduation ceremony will take place on Friday, June 15, but all students including our 8th graders will be expected to return till the final day. Please note the change on your calendar and remember that we will also begin school early this coming year. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 will be the first day of instruction for the 2012/13 school year.
Lastly, we will be implementing a new district program, Breakfast in the Classroom for all future Berendo students. The program is meant to encourage healthy eating and to ensure that all of our students begin the day with the most important meal, breakfast. Students will be served in the classroom during the first 10 minutes of school. We will begin piloting the program during our last three weeks of school this year. We will use the time to evaluate our procedures and may revisit our current bell schedule to accommodate this program.

¡Hola Familias Cruzaders y Feliz Día de la Madre! Esto mes administraremos las pruebas del CST a todos los estudiantes. Nuestro alumnos del sexto y séptimo grado apoyarán el Camino a nuestra campaña de los 800 ofreciendo su potencial en inglés y Matemáticas. Nuestra clase del 8vo grado del 2012 lleva la responsabilidad más grande, porque deben tomar exámenes en las áreas de inglés, las Matemáticas, la Historia y la Ciencia. Es también su desafío de continuar creciendo el puntaje para Berendo y superar las metas de sus antecesores, la clase de 2011. ¡Nuestros estudiantes están listos! Han estado preparandose todo el año y el CST es una oportunidad para nosotros como una comunidad de la escuela de presumir nuestras habilidades académicas. El CST tiene el impacto más grande en el API de una escuela y los resultados también son utilizados para determinar la asignación de clases para su niño. Adicionalmente, el puntaje de una escuela a menudo son utilizadas en valorar los bienes raíces. Cuanto más alto el puntaje de API, más grande el valor de propiedad del vecindario. ¡Yo a menudo he indicado Berendo es la escuela de la comunidad y nosotros compartiremos todo en este esfuerzo juntos!

Por último, nosotros aplicaremos un nuevo programa de distrito, el Desayuno en el Aula para todos los futuros estudiantes de Berendo. El programa favorece una alimentacion sana y para asegurar que todos nuestros estudiantes empiecen el día con la comida más importante, el desayuno. Los estudiantes serán servidos en el aula durante los primeros 10 minutos de la escuela. Empezaremos dirigiendo el programa durante nuestras últimas tres semanas de este año. Utilizaremos el tiempo de evaluar nuestros procedimientos y puede volver a visitar nuestro horario actual para acomodar este programa. ¡Su participación en la educación de su niño es el factor mas importante que usted puede contribuir a hacer a la Hermosa Berendo uno de las mejores escuelas en el Estado de California!
