Uniform Policy
Berendo Middle School has established a strict dress code and uniform policy, which began on July 5, 1995. Berendo’s clothing and grooming policies are to remind all students that this school is a place of learning and safety for everyone.
Uniform for boys includes:
- Shirts must be white with a collar and sleeves. (Example: polo shirt, dress shirt). Undershirts must be white only and worn under the polo shirt.
- Navy blue pants or Bermudas; no jeans, sweatpants, or corduroys will be permitted.
- Pants with belt loops must be worn with a belt not longer than 3” larger than waist size. Initials or Insignia belt buckles are not permitted.
- Navy blue sweater or sweatshirts with no hood, initials, pictures, or logos other than the school emblem will be worn.
- No oversized clothing. Pants may not be more than 2 sizes larger than the student’s own waist; no slit seams, pants must be hemmed, and cannot be longer than 1” above the ground. They must be belted and worn at the waist.
- Shoes must be enclosed for safety and no thick shoelaces will be permitted.
- No caps, hats, hairnets, and bandanas.
- No gang attire is permitted at any time.
Uniform for girls includes:
- Shirt or blouse must be white with a collar and sleeves, which must cover the waist.
- Navy blue skirts, pants, cuprous, Bermudas or jumpers may not be shorter than 3 inches above the knees; no jeans, sweatpants, or corduroys will be permitted.
- Initial or insignia belt buckles are not permitted.
- Navy blue sweater or sweatshirts with no hood, initials, pictures, or logos other than the school emblem will be worn.
- No oversized clothing, gang style, mesh shirts, see-through shirts, or bare midriffs are permitted. Pants may not be more than 2 sizes larger than the students waist; no seams are to be slit; pants must be hemmed and cannot be longer than 1inch above the ground.
- Shoes must be enclosed for safety and no thick laces will be permitted.
- No hair rollers, hairnets, hats, caps, and bandanas.
- No gang attire is permitted at any time.
